What do you guys own?

Anybody own shopping centers, rental properties, apartment complexes, high rises, or retail spaces?

I'm on a small level in the real estate game. I rent out 7 homes in southern california. All are by the room. They bring in decent monthly income but you have to watch every dollar carefully because the margins in that type of thing are razor thin.

What are the expenses associated with renting rooms?

I always wanted to try renting out a few homes

You have repairs from time to time no matter old or new the house is
House keeping. Sometimes I offer one of the residents a reduced rate if they do some things around the house especially mowing the lawn.
Renting rooms is no cash cow by any means. I would say if you wanted to do it you would have to do at least 5 houses to make it worth while

I worked for a guy that did that. He owned a couple bowling alleys too. Sold both to a larger chain for 13 million and now he's retired in Texas

You'll get there. I have a friend out where I live who owns 13 strip malls. Pretty good money if you can get it. He has a rent collector and pays landscaping companies to come out.

The rental property game can be a nice secondary income for sure. Maybe even your main income. Good luck

Just bought a minority stake in a strip mall here in town about a month ago.
